Consultant Breast Surgeon at Guy's and St.Thomas Hospitals.
Mr Beechey-Newman trained at Guy's Hospital Medical School between 1977 and 1983. He spent 14 years in general surgical training before joining the Breast Unit as Guy's and St.Thomas' Hospitals. He now specialises exclusively in breast disorders including benign breast problems, breast cancer and breast reconstructive surgery following breast cancer.
Mr Beechey-Newman sees patients at Guy's, St.Thomas and King's College Hospitals and privately at the London Bridge Hospital. He runs the Guy's Hospital breast pain clinic, the family history clinic and the Guy's and St.Thomas part of the National Breast Screening programme.
Nicolas heads-up the Guy's and St.Thomas, sentinel node biopsy programme which he started in 1998. He leads the team investigating the use of breast duct micro-endoscopy and is currently setting up the world's first clinical micro-endoscopy centre which aims to promote the use of micro-endoscopes in other medical and surgical specialties. He is president of the International Society for Mammary Endoscopy.
Recent research publications include articles on breast duct micro-endoscopy, sentinel node biopsy, breast cancer occurring in very young women (under the age of 25 years), Paget's disease of the nipple and tubular carcinoma.
